The 80 acre Painted Pony Resort is located in the high desert of southern New Mexico in beautiful Hidalgo County. This unique and isolated part of the country known as the boot heel of New Mexico covers 1200 square miles of southwestern New Mexico. The basin and range geography of the boot heel is characterized by north south trending mountain ranges separated by broad flat valleys.
Situated, literally at the end of the road, 5 miles north of Rodeo, New Mexico and at an elevation of 4000’, PPR is far from the pressures of the urban environment. A place to unplug. State land borders both the north and west sides of the property while federal lands cover the mountains both east and west.
We are located about 75 minutes North of the historic mining towns of Bisbee and Tombstone, AZ. Also, near by is the Geronimo Roadside Monument and Douglas, AZ, home of the Gadsden Hotel. 90 minutes North is Silver City, NM and the beautiful Gila Wilderness, where you will find the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. To our East are the Chiricahua Mountains and the Peloncillo mountain range is to the West. A short drive down the road is Portal, AZ. Near by are Cave Creek Canyon, Chiricahua National Monument, Rustler's Park, the Coronado National Forest and the unspoiled Rucker Canyon.
