Family Reunions Are a Favorite at The Painted Pony Resort

What a fantastic place for a family Reunion or Anniversary Celebration.  You have the whole place to yourself.  No one to share the pool with and all areas exclusively for you and your family.

Whether it is watching the game in the living room on the big screen TV, hanging out by the pool, or exploring the estate each family member can pursue their own interests in a communal atmosphere.

If you are planning a Family Reunion, we understand that an important aspect of any Family Reunion is the bonding created by participation in family centered activities.  For your Family Reunion the Painted Pony Resort offers your family the option of two fantastic family oriented activities unique to our area. The Boot Hill of New Mexico is famous for Reptile Study and Wilderness Hikes in the Chiricahua Mountains and we want you and your family to experience both.  Your whole family will participate and have fun on our Reptile Safari and our Wilderness Hike.  See the information below on these activities we have already planned for you.

Combined with day trips to various locations, family members can create their own vacation within a reunion.

PPR Reptile Safari & Wildlife Garden Trip to The Chiricahua Desert Museum, Rodeo, NM

This exclusive Family Reunion event is hosted by Bob Ashley the owner of The Chiricahua Desert Museum in Rodeo, NM (NM's premier rattlesnake educational outreach and exhibit). Ashley conducts these educational field trips for Family Reunion's hosted by the Painted Pony Resort.

Careful scientific observation, highly entertaining anecdotes, a passion for rattlesnakes, unique insight and commitment to coexistence with wildlife make this an event you will not want to miss.  Ashley maintains the largest and rarest collection of rattle snakes in the history of the State of New Mexico, encompassing a very diverse group of nearly 100 animals. Throughout his career he has successfully bred and raised countless species of reptiles placing many on display at The Chiricahua Desert Museum. The Museum also maintains a large and unusual art collection.

This is a 2-3 hour entertaining field trip to the Museum which is only 10 minutes from the resort.   It includes a lecture on rattlesnakes with emphasis on the local ecology and local species of snakes; a tour of the museum and exhibits; walk through of the outside Wildlife Garden; and a 10% discount on any merchandise purchased at their huge gift shop.  Also, refreshments will be included. This is  a very rare opportunity to see animals most of us have only ever seen on Animal Planet.

PPR Family Reunion Wilderness Hiking

Our Estate Manager, Bruce Thompson, is an expert on many of the Wilderness trails in the area and will lead you and your family on a 4 hour hike in the beautiful Chiricahua Mountains.  There are over 10 hiking trails to choose from with full descriptions of each trail on our personal web site.  Bring your camera!

More Information on Wilderness Hiking & Retile Safari

For both of these activities you need to confirm what days you want at least two weeks in advance of your arrival.  For the hiking we provide the guide and knowledge and your family will arrange food, drinks, and transportation to and from the sites.  For the Reptile Safari plan on being at the Museum by 10 AM the day of your Safari.  You will need to confirm your date with the Museum at least two weeks in advance of your arrival.

For more information on Hiking Trails available click here on our link to Hiking Trails.  Click here for more information on the Reptile Safari.

Of course, you do not have to participate in these activities and may choose to spend your time enjoying the luxury at our Resort.

The PPR is a posh desert retreat in Rodeo, NM built to the finest specification and served as the exclusive getaway for a well-known Silicon Valley Software Entrepreneur. This was a place to entertain large gatherings in the serenity and natural beauty of the isolated high New Mexican desert. This now can be your private playground in the desert of New Mexico for your friends, family, and business associates. Under new ownership, you too can enjoy a destination that was envisioned and built for leaving the rest of the world behind.
